I am modelling an aircraft wing and trying to assign a cross-section (standard T) to the stringers in the skin, originally modelled as lines.

My question is, how do I position/orient the beams properly?

Firstly: as the panel skin isn't "plane", how I can ensure that the cross-section is perpendicular to the skin for each particular line?
My attempts so far have led to the same orientation being used for all the lines, so that for one of them it is appropriate and for the others the beams are rotated wrt to the skin...

Secondly: where can I define the direction I want the profiles to extend in (i.e. towards the inside rather than the outside of the wingbox)?

I'm sorry the explanation isn't very clear...

In general, I would appreciate tips on how to position beams: I have looked at the Altair tutorials but in this case they haven't helped much.
