Hypothetical 2

Hi good morning all,

Im kinda new in using hysys and having a problem to make a hypothetical.
i Have 3 compound that i want to hypothetical but i having some issue with it

1. 1st compound(hydrocarbon gas) data :
Density :1.14 lb/ft^3 ( @ 150 psig & 85 F)
Viscosity : 1.04 cP
Molecular weight : 25.74

note : when i make hypothetical(prop to set : molecular weight & estimation methode :default) with this
data it said density data is out of range.

2. 2nd compound(hydrocarbon gas) data :
Density : 0.268 lb/ft^3 ( @ P & T)
Viscosity : 0.013 cP
Molecular weight : 24.94

Note : same problem with 1st one

3. 3rd compound(hydrocarbon liq) data :
Density : 31.83 lb/ft^3
Viscosity : 0.9 cP
Surface tension : 5.04 dyne/cm

Note : i don't have clue to make hypothetical from this data.
i use
properties to set : surface tension
Estimation methode : default
but have no clue where i should put the data,btw i use hysys 7.3.


Plz help me to make the hypothetical step by step

You cant make hypo compounds from the light ends - these have to be analytical.

Generally hypo components shall be C6+

If you only have a destillation curve then the method is different.

@morten : aaah i c now.so hypo only for simulate liquid phase compound,right?.sory for some stupid question i just nu learn hysys and have no tutor.Thx alots morten.

Almost, but just to make sure: A hypo is not defined by being a liquid, but by being a "heavy fraction" (those will of course be liquids at ambient conditions. The idear about hypos is that you "lump" the charateristics of many (quite similar) compounds into one. Consider how many different compounds with 6 carbon atoms (and unlimited other atoms) you may construct? Alkenes, alkanes, aromatics, isomers etc. etc. So if you wanted to make a calculations using only discreete compounds your list would be very long and your analytical process very expensive. Evem at C5 there are many compouds that are ignored besides iC5 and nC5 that are the two normally considered.

Charaterisation is very complicated and you should not try to carry out this if you dont know the theoretics and will beable to evaluate the results and do QA.
 
looks like realy long way ahead of me to understand hysys.Thx anyway morten.
and its not gonna my only thread from me about hysys, hope You will help me in next question :p
 
I think that IF you are using HYSYS (or similar software) for professional use - its paramunt that you have a very profound understanding of thermodynmics abd chemistry. How would you else be able to evaluate the result and evaluate if they are meaningfull? I think that you should focus on understanding the thermodynamics and chemistry before HYSYS. If youalready feel at home here then go forward.
