I am an aircraft and aerospace contract structural and systems design engineer with 38 years experience. I have been using CATIA V5 for many years, but now several of the few available contracts are using Siemens NX10. I am able to train on NX online at igetit.com, but I do not qualify for a student version of the software. This makes it difficult to land a contract at NASA-JPL, Northrop Grumman-Melbourne (FLA), Boeing Space Systems-El Segundo, etc. I have not located any training centers at or near Charleston, SC. where my contract ends in December. Can someone please assist my training dilemma and lead me to a nearby training program or a student version of the software so I can land one of these contracts? Contract design openings are very sparse these days.
Thanks!

Robert, perhaps take a look in the relevant software forum forum561, good luck.

You can find a lot of training on this website: Link

It looks like the only intro class in your area isn't until late April.

There is an online one in late March but it says you will need your own copy of NX10 installed.

When I was young, I slummed at a couple no-name places on contract to learn CAD. Then I was ready for the big-leagues.

Thanks fellas. I tried the links but the training requires you to either already have the software or enroll in one of the course(S)like Hendersdc noted at a cost of $2500 plus travel, hotel, etc. in addition to taking myself out of the workplace for a week (another~$2500). For a contract engineer on the road like me, I need on-line training like you get with As I stated, the problem is obtaining a student copy of the software. I'm trying to work with Siemens to see if I enroll in some of the igetit classes first whether that will qualify me for the student version, 1-year software lease that is offered? Ill let you know how that goes.

Robert, If the new NX10 software is the wave of the future you might consider that $5k a valid business expense and buy it. In my line of work (electrical) I used to use Cadence Orcad software. Many clients were using Mentor PADS instead. It cost me a total of $6k to buy the software and take their 3-day training course. That was 10 years ago and I've been using that CAD package ever since.

Omigod Darrel, my dad had a copy of Orcad, I think 1985 or so.
