Some welding data charts mention this alloy. I believe it is european, and reference is made to similarity of 4043 alloy. Not much to go on, but I hope this helps.

EN 1706 exists as either BS EN 1706 or DIN EN 1706:
Aluminium and aluminium alloys - Castings
Chemical composition and mechanical properties

The full designation is either EN AC-44100 or EN AC-Al Si12(b). It has the following composition:

Si = 10.5-13.5
Fe = 0.65 (0.55 for ingot)
Cu = 0.15 (0.10 for ingot)
Mn = 0.55
Mg = 0.10
Ni = 0.10
Zn = 0.15
Pb = 0.10
Ti = 0.20 (0.10 ingot)
Al = remainder

You can obtain a copy of this standard from Global Engineering Documents or BSI using the following links:

Once again TVP you come up trumps.

Thanks alot.
