Dear Colleagues,
Recently we placed a claim to a hot rolled section supplier regarding the shape of IPE 240.
After thorough measurment, it came out the beams has web out of center problem.
The question is now, how we should understand this clause of the standard.
the questionned IPE 240 had 3 mm web out of center on the upper flange and 3,5 in the lower one, however to the opposit direction. That makes the beam a paralelogramma.
Supplier states the two flange is allowed to alter to the opposit direction, 3,5 mm each. I can not accept it. According to my interpretation if we choose a centerline and measure the web position on the upper flange, we has to use the same centerline when we evaluate the position to the lower flange . So that the 3 and 3,5 has to be added together. So the section is not acceptable.
We can not use them anyway, as the automatic drilling machine can not drill in such a slank position.

Hope I was clear!

Does anyone have experience in the topic?

Thanks,

Csike
