Hi, I'm working on a project where there’s strict weight limit of max 35 pounds for manual handling of I-beams & C-beams, considering the varied weights (~75 pounds) and lengths (16' to 29') of these rails, we would like the operator to pick up these rails with a lifter machine or/and manipulator, enhancing overall operational safety and efficiency in our plant.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what would be the best approach?

Currently sets of low carbon steel beams are placed outside of the building on cantilever racks, the operator from the inside opens a sliding door and grabs the steel beam, pulls it, lifts it, and places into a working fixture. What do you guys think? Since a manipulator would need to grab the steel beam by its center of gravity, I believe some kind of conveyor would be the best approach. Any ideas of a conveyor that can separate each long rail and not having all the stack of long rails come thru the wall opening at the same time?
