I found a very Good Price on a electric device which uses Lithium-ion battery. The Good Price is because the device is a NOS (New Old Stock).

I am wondering if I could have problems with a NEVER USED but old lithium battery. The device is around 2 years old model.

Any help will be appreciated

Li-ion batteries do age, and that aging gets worse with higher temperatures. Not sure I would worry terribly about 2 years, unless you need optimum performance right out of the gate, but something to consider... if it was stored in a temp-controlled environment, I wouldn't be concerned about the 2 years of storage. If it was sitting in a hot warehouse, however...

I would suggest taking the battery out and charging under very controlled conditions (current limits) and monitor the temps very carefully. You could then discharge though a controlled load. then recharge and measure capacity. With a good power supply and adjustable load this isn't very difficult to do.
