I need a 2D section of an assembly - This is the only way I know how.. 1

Hi all, I have an assembly of a Applique (the light that mounts on a Lift gate of an SUV) and one of my suppliers needs a 2D section of the along the Center-line of the Vehicle. The supplier is developing and extrusion. This is the only way I know how. Put a plane in each file (part) and create a layer in each file (part). This will have the 2D section in it. Intersect the geometry using the intersect command and select the plane and the solid geometry. This will give the 2D geometry. The problem is I have 16 parts (files) that I have do this process too. Does anyone have another solution.

Update, I think I have solve the problem. I can create a drawing, create the section, DXF / IGES out the drawing (section) and this should solve my problem.

Any replies or other suggests are welcomed.

Depending on what your supplier wants, you cam make an assembly cut down the middle, and save the assembly as a sShrinkwrap, IGES or whatever format you need. Use this to make a drawing and export.

You can create an Assembly Datum Plane and make A Cross Section using the view manager in the Assemly file. Then you can create a Datum Curve and choose the Use Xsec option. Then select the name of the Xsec you created in the assembly and you'll have the Xsec curve for all your parts as one Datum Curve.
