Hi, I need to know how to do a grading in a terrain digital model with a 0.50m increment. I want to know if it is possible to put a first level and increase the next field 0.50m up from the first one.
God Bless you

I am not sure what you mean by grading. Maybe we use different terms in our country. I am guessing you might mean establishing contours at 0.5m intervals?

If that is the case there are various software packages that will do this. Perhaps you can elaborate a bit more about the model you have and what the aim or use will be?

If this assists try the topographical mapping module of ACAD. I personally use a package called MAPCAD in South Africa.

Let me know if you want more information?

Good Luck

Hi Solangel

I am also unsure of what you mean by 'grading.'

You said "I want to know if it is possible to put a first level and increase the next field 0.50m up from the first one." - Maybe you can access the data for the levels in a spreadsheet and just use an equation to add 0.5? (or have I misunderstood you completely?)

If you have the DTM data (x,y,z) in a .dat, .xls or .txt file then you can use them in a spreadsheet program (such as MS Excel or Lotus 123).

If you meant you wanted to contour the DTM at 0.5m intervals then I suggest you use Golden Software Surfer to grid the data - the software allows you to stipulate the parameters of the interpolation method and also all the x,y,z details.

I hope this is of some help to you.

Good luck

No my dear friends, I have made the contours and I have used them, now I'm trying to compare two different volumens, so I have to do a new surface with the final site grading that I want, I have an urban project and I have designed the roadways, drainage, stormwater and water distribution systems. Everything made digitally, using Land Development, Civil Survey and Civil Design. I have to make the site grading(final level for each lot) for the project and there are a lot of lots, with different levels. At present I put the level with 4 points by lot, but in this case there are too many and I want to know if is posible to mark an area and put a level, then mark next area with the level reference from last one marked without create four new points with a new level each time for each lot.

I'm sorry but I do not quite follow your reply. I shall attempt to answer how i see it. In township development one often tries to get a "level" platform for the placing of the house. One would usually work on a cut and fill surface thus minimising earthworks. I guess you mean you wish to give one level instead of having to tie it in with four levels. Well the road design package should be able to do it. The alternative is more intuitive by simply deciding on an average level and marking that on the plan as design level. Our package allows us to choose a spot and it will then work out the theoretical ground level based on the Digital terrain model. But I can then change that level artificially thus a design level. If we miss the point totally please bear with us as we are trying to help?

Carlorom, that's exactly that I wanted to explain, the point is that I don't know how to do that easily with Land Development,or where find that information, if anyone knows where can I find a tutorial, I'll be very grateful.
Thanks!
And God Bless You!

Sorry I dont know the package but If you managed to design the road surface maybe use the same concept to design say a level road of a limited size on each site. Sorry I am not familiar with this one so can only give guesses. PLEASE SO<EONE HELP-?

good luck

did you get your site graded?
chip

Yes, my dear chip, but I spent a lot of time, it could be easy using the programs described.
