I want to populate the titleblock, where does the file reside in the PDM database.

When I create a new drawing and check it into our PDM database and then check it back out and click files properties and then click the customs tab there is information under “property name” items 1, 2, 3, which can be filled out and populate the title block.

I want to add more items to this column but have them become permanent so each time a drawing is checked out these items are ready to be filled out like "Drawnby" so they will then populate the title block.

My Question where in the PDM database is this file located so I can modify it.

Thank you,
Jeff

Your explanation makes it sound to me like they are located either in the model or the drawing file and not PDM.

Are you using PDM workgroup or EPDM?

jeff97070,

I have our titleblocks set up so that they are populated from our document custom properties. Your PDM system ought to be able to read your custom properties too.

Hi,

When I make a new drawing and just save the file in my local harddrive and I do files properties this is what I see.

SWFormatSize Text 297mm*420mm 297mm*420mm
<Type a new property>

When I check the drawing into the PDM database and then click files properties below is what I see a much larger list which tells me there is something in the PDM databse that is creating all of the new items shown. So again my question after checking in the file to the database what is creating the more advanced list?

SWFormatSize Text 297mm*420mm 297mm*420mm
Number Text 426-XXXX-XX
Description Block, Square
Revision Text A-28 A-28
Author Text jeff jeff
Project Text X Program X Program
Drawnby Text Jeff
Checkedby Text Jeff
Drawndate Date 5/7/2014 5/7/2014
Checkeddate Date 5/7/2014 5/7/2014
<Type a new property>

In Pro-Engineer we created a standard list of items to be filled out in the model parameters. When a new model was created you just had to fill in the blanks and once these were filled out all of this would populate the drawing titleblock, speeds up the process.

This is what you want...

There is a properties.txt file that you can create and save on your network. Path your users to it under System Properties > File Locations > Custom Properties File

This will give you a drop down list of properties to choose from.
