Per ICC 500, storm shelters must have a peer review performed by a separate engineer for shelters serving a larger occupancy (>300).

The ICC 500 only states "Peer Review" but provides no guidance on the nature of that review.
Over the years I've had my own designs reviewed, and I've served as a peer reviewer as well...with many different "levels" of review provided.

Any thoughts on what level, or scope of services, would be appropriate for a peer review of a large storm shelter?
Example - Large middle school serving an occupancy of about 1,000.

If there are no official requirements than there are no official requirements.....at minimum, you'd need someone licensed in that state.

But a good review in my book (if I had the budget) would be someone who had a lot of experience (for example) designing in front of Florida's CCCL line. They've seen the worst and know what to expect.

"Highlight of ICC 500-2014" outlines peer review requirements:

Other parts of the "Highlights" document provide some insight into when a peer review is needed and what the peer review should include.
