Anyone here use Idea Statica for connection design to AISC codes?
Most of the engineers in our office use RAM Structural System and RAM Connection for building and connection design. A couple years ago we got a seat of Tekla Structural Designer as a whole-building design alternative. I like a number of the features and functions of TSD, but one of the biggest limitations (up to now?) that we've had is the lack of integrated connection design, or a simple way to extract loads for design in RAM Connection. This is typically an issue in large braced-frame buildings with 100's of load combinations where enveloping is not economical.
Recently Tekla announced the ability of TSD 2018i to export joint geometry and loading to Idea StatiCa and while I'm messing around with the 14 day free trial, I thought I'd see if there were any real-world users willing to share feedback.
Cheers
