Hallo, exist any converter between Ideas and Ugs NX6. (The best would by 2-way converter). Thanks.

If you have Made the move From I-Deas to Ugs NX6 Siemens has something called the Content Migration Manager which should be able to take 90% of your i-deas features and translate them into UGSnx6 with full history suppport. Contact GTAC and your sales rep for information on this.

Also There is a company called Elysium

Its generally even better then 90% more like 95 to 98. if you have simple geometric parts then it's 100%. you can set it up to try the translations the Content Migration Manager does with setting up teamcenter. Not the way to do things in the long run and not the way Siemens recommends but good enough to test things out.

we are currently testing the CMM program to migrate our database from IDEAS to NX (with team center)and we are not satisfy. Our parts are not so sophisticated (no surfacic parts) and we are close to 80% success. We are also meeting problem using the CMM program to convert an IDEAS 2D drawings using symbols (.sym).
The Nx support is not so good and we are waiting and waiting for response. Maybe because we are a french company?

It's completly different from what NX promise us before buying this soft...bad experience at this time.

I played with the CMM from I-deas 5 or 6 to NX6 and had pretty good results. I was not using Teamcenter, I used package files. Not the way to go for a production environment. Of the parts that did not covert correctly 100% usually it was just some simple fixes to get it to 100%. I just think it was amazingly cool to have that accurate of a translation and still have all the model/assembly/drawing relationships still intact. A lot of the time it would not be to much of an issue if you had to make do with dumb models, but if you have a lot of parts then keeping the relations between assemblies and drawings helps out tremendously.

Have you tried using CMM to open I-deas drawings in NX? Do you know if it's functional?

The Content Migration Manager (CMM) worked well on the drawings and related models. If you call your rep you can get everything you need to try it. it would be nicer if i-deas and NX were both using teamcenter, but to test transfer and conversion you can get everything you need from your seimens rep. They are resistant to give out the software and license but with some pushing and understanding that you will need to do some configuring and setting things up it should go fine. it may take a few phone calls.
