I have run into some trouble when trying to use the equation for zeta phi in diagram 8-5 in the 3rd edition of "Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance," by I.E. Idelchik. When I enter the open area ratio and Reynolds number into the equation, the value for Zeta Phi does not match the value from the table or the graph. Has any one else noticed this? I'm hoping someone has figured out an actual equation that will work. The 3rd edition is fraught with typos. Maybe there is something simple that can be done to the equation that would make it work right.
