IG power and GFI outlets

We have a project where city code required us to install GFI outlets from which our Cash register system is powered. We typically power POS systems using IG power, dedicated to the POS equipment. There have been significant problems with the equipment since it was originally installed
1) What problems might a GFI outlet pose for (PC and Non-PC based register equipment)?
2) Is it possible to have a GFI outlet that is also IG?
