All,
I know some things have changed in NX3. I need to know how to Export an entire Assy. NX2 was just Export,Iges,Specifiy File,OK.
I can export single parts in the Assembly as work parts but not the Assy

Any help would be great

What I have found is that you need to load all of the parts in the assembly. This is how I do it. I open the assembly navigator and select the upper level of the assembly, right click, select open component fully. This will load all of the parts in the assembly. Then use the same commands that you always do. This should work.

jec3300,

I have done this and the translator runs but I don't get all the geometry. Is there any other way. I have even tried using class selection and picjing the assembly file from the menu.

Regards,

Woody

dwoody1,

What jec3300 has suggested should work, however, if you are still having problems you can wave link the individual parts into the assy and then try to export. I've done this in the past and it has worked. good luck

Not sure on your exact requirements but what I usually do is export the entire assy to a single part file (remove parameters also) and then open that part file and export the IGES from there....I'll usually put everything on seperate layers while I'm in there too.

Take care..

Hellbent,

Can you explain how to do this. My UG is not so good.

From your top level....goto File>>Export...export a part...in the export part dialog you need to specify your exported part name, check "All Objects" in the selection scope and "Remove Parameters" from the feature parameters section, then select "Class Selection" and select your entire assembly. After you've created that part....open it...and export your IGES file from there.

Take care...

I just export a parasolid (.x_t file)
Open a new part - then file/import/parasolid

this breaks all links and treats each item as a solid body.

From there you can file/export/igs with no problem.

I create wave geometry, blank out the parent geometry, remove all parameters from the waved geometry, then export.
