Ignition spark pickup design?

Does anyone here have some experience in making inductive pickups for secondary ignition circuits in autos? I need to pickup ignition @ coil wire to build a injection system I'm helping someone with. I am hoping some here are old hands @ this ignition pickup stuff! Thanks a bunch.

In college, we started with ten-fifteen wraps of wire aroung the wire. Look at this with a scope. You can feed this signal into a differential amplifier after a low pass filter (all op amp designs, consult mfg sites for app notes like ON semiconductor TL741 or similar is one common op amp)
