Hi All,

Would you guys share the fastest way to convert an igs format file into a part file.

Regards,

Mario.

The absolute fastest way is start a session of NX and then go to...

File -> Open...

...and the dialog opens, at the bottom, where it says 'File of type', expand the list of file types until you find the item named 'IGES Files (*.igs)'. Now just navigate to where your .igs file is located, select it and hit OK. The IGES file will be opened as an NX part file.

The other way to do this would be create a new empty part file and then go to...

File -> Import -> IGES...

...and the IGES data will be loaded in the open NX part file.

A third way would be run the IGES translator from a command line window.

Thank you, John.

Do you of any way of somehow automating those steps?

I used to have a bat file that let me right click on the file and "open with" and it would run the commandline translator. but I forgot how to do it now.
