Is there a standard that governs the illumination levels (lux, footcandles) in a Milling Plant or similar production process?

I have looked at OSHA 1926.56(a) requirements and observed minimum levels for corridors, warehouse, etc. These are minimum levels and not sufficient to facilitate work in most areas where checks have to be done, process readings taken etc.

I will be reviewing IESNA Standard but want to know if they are the governing agency for establishing illumination levels in the stated areas.

You might also look at an IES Handbook which gives optimal lighting levels for different kinds of industrial work.

There is free software for determining illumination levels for different fixtures. I would probably farm that out to an industrial engineer, though.
