i'm new to autocad 3d. i am starting to develop a 3d drawing out of the scanned sketch submitted.

is there a way to attach the jpeg as a reference and see a line in the top view if the image was inserted in the left view?

The image is 2D, if it is visible in top view, it will display as a line in left view or any other orthogonal view. Bring the image in using the "image" command.

what's the difference between the image command and the raster image command?

I think Image brings up the image manager (can see list of inserted images), raster is the Attach button within image manager (lets you "go get" the image).
