Hello everyone. I have been asked to design a connection of handrail post to timber beam.
I am not sure how to calculate the tension on the bolts.
Can someone lend some insite please?
Thank you in advance. The moment on the connection is 0.89 k-ft.

If it were me, I'd start by lowering the number of anchors to (2) pairs and apply statics to resolve reactions. Another pair of anchors just complicates the calculation.

See the AWC guide and check if you can get the connection shown on page 20 to work. Deck Guide

Don't forget to take measures to avoid cross-grain bending of your beam.

For future reference - Try to use a relevant title. It helps get your thread more clicks and you are more likely to get a response from other members.

The connection at the ends of your beam, or some form of torsion prevention is far more important than the bolts for your handrail. Make sure that beam can't rotate (either direction!) and it's likely that almost any assortment of bolts can work.
