Here in Florida engineers have recently been required to have either impact glass, shutter system or some type of method to protect glass openings in the wind borne debris regions.

Does anyone know if using impact glass is going to create some sort of fire danger as far as how people are going to
get out of the home in a fire?

I wouldn't think so. As long as the window can be opened from the inside I think the codes figure that the window can be used as an escape. Breaking a window to escape is not a consideration.
