I am currently working on a hydraulic cylinder project. The customer specification calls for design adequacy checking of the cylinder against impact of 2800 KN/s. What is this meaning? Is it loading rate? Can somebody provide guidance to approach this problem so that I understand this requirement better. Thanks in advance.

at first look, I wondered how many seconds is this applied for ? How much load ?

2nd thought, maybe this is a rate question, ie how does your hydraulic cylinder react to a high load rate ? Does it lock up ?

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

I imagine it is a uniform load of 2800kN applied for 1 second.

I don't know anything about cylinders, but it's about the weight of a column supporting a 3 storey building so I wouldn't want to be that cylinder.

Try asking the client, bet they don't even know..... ;)
