I've got a very old material spec that calls out Izod Notched Impact Strength of 1.5 ft-lb/in (80 J/m) to ASTM D 256. I've got a Chinese data sheet that gives Notched Impact Strength of 10 kJ/m^2 to ISO 179. Note: does not say Izod. Any way to compare these two values or is it totally apples and oranges?

It seems like the difference between peel strength (energy/length) vs tensile strength (energy/area)

I don't know there is a good way to match one to the other.

What is the dimensional difference in the two samples?

I see from the ISO page on ISO 179 that it is a Charpy test and that ISO 180 is the Izod test.

Thanks, looks like Ill have to ask the Chinese supplier to provide the Izod results or look for a different one.
