Scenario:
Shell and tube HX (specific question is regarding the Shell to Tubesheet weld)
Shell side MDMT: -50 *F
Tube Side MDMT: -110*F
Shell material: SA-516-70N
Tubesheet material: SA-240-304
According to UCS-66 and UHA-51 all materials in question are exempt from impact testing, however UCS-67(a)(3) states that the weld wire must be impact tested.
Question:
Now since we are joining P1 to P8 we are using ER309L weld wire (which has a minimum temperature < -50*F), do we still have to purchase impact tested weld wire or qualify an impact tested PQR?
Thanks for any help, and if at all possible references would be most helpful
