I want to calculate the resistance and reactance of a 25kV single phase (railway) cable from the Track Sectioning Cabing (TSC). There are 2 cables , the active and the return path cable.

(I have some theory but this all relates to 3 phase cable. Does the polarity of the currents have any effect?) Is the GMD just the distance between the cable and the GMR a standard for single core cables)

The cable is XLPE, Cu single core cable.

Thanks very much for this.

Fullelove,

You mention active and return path cable and polarity of the current. Are you talking about ac or dc? Single phase-to-ground or is the load between phase-to-phase? If phase-to-ground, is the cable shield part of the return path? Is the shield grounded at both ends?
