I have tried to import these files from Solid Works:
- ACIS
- CATIA
- IGES
- Parasolid
- STEP

, but the only files Abaqus "detected" was Parasolid files. However, one must have Elysium software, which I don't have... All the other files were not showing when I tried to import them.

Does anyone have tips on this matter?

Did you try to change the file extension into the corresponding one indicating by ABAQUS when using:
CAE->File->Import->Part

.stp , .iges should work.

Yes, I tried this, but the files were not showing... I also thought STEP and IGES should work.

I must say one thing though: I saved the files from a Windows environment, took the CD to a Linux environment. It should not be a problem...?! (OR?)

*Step and *IGES work for me.

you said the files not showing...you mean nothing on screen or show something that not correct.

I think it depends on the Linux. You should try moving the files through ftp or a similar method not via hardware having OS dependent file systems.

Did you try changing the case of extensions. I remember that solidworks creates extensions in UPPER case. Sometime ago similar thing happened to me while using MSC Marc/Mentat.

Wow... this thread is going nowhere fast ;)

To help us help you, can you first list the exact filenames that you are having trouble with (including extensions and using the same case as they appear in your file explorer)

The answer from nodalDOF is correct...:) Thank you very much for all the answers...

Have a good day, everyone
