Hi all,

I'm new in Adams so I apologize for the simple question. I have few simple geometry developed in Solidworks, only with holes and pins. They are parts of a scissor mechanism. I need to import all of them in Adams. I imported them as STEP file but it's just a solid. I need to create a revolute joint between a pin and an hole of two parts, but I don't see any easy way to do it because I can't select any element of the geometries, they're composed of a bounch of points at the edges. How can I create easily a point in the center of a circle? Should I get the point coordinate in solidworks and set it up in Adams?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Pietro

Yes, that sounds like the easiest way.

I don't know of any ADAMS based product that really imports marker geometry, let alone builds up the mechanism equivalent to that in a CAD program. Hopefully you'll find once you've got your markers attached to the relevant parts adding the right joint types is pretty straightforward in ADAMS/View. bear in mind you need the two markers for a revolute to be coincident and parallel, and that the joint rotates around the marker Z axis (from memory).

Hi Greg,

thanks for your reply. I come from one year of experience of Virtual.lab and Simmechanics and I'm a bit surprised that with adams it's ncecessary to recreate the geometry. With virtual.lab it's not necessary since it recognizes the geometry parts like edges, points and so on, so to add a marker at the center of a circonference it's straightforward. I'll reproduce the geometry

Thanks you

Cheers

Hello,

the best file to import in msc adams is parasolid (x_t).
