I HAVE TRIED SPECIAL PASTING BUT IT IS EITHER TO SMALL OR THE QUALITY IS LOST. ANY IDEAS. THANKS

Try plotting as a JPG. In AutoCAD 2002 from the plot menu on the Device tab choose PublishToWeb JPG.pc3 as the plot device. You can specify the folder the JPG is saved in on the same tab (lower right where you will also enter the name). You can set the plot parameters so only the area you choose will be saved in the JPG, just like plotting to a plotter.

In Excel choose insert->picture->from file then find your picture.

I haven't tried it in excel, but for programming in Delphi, I often export autocad drawings as *.wmf (windows meta files) and they work well without the graphics 'jaggies'issues.

You can paste WMFs and resize them in Excel

Good Luck

Steam Engine enthusiasts:

I do this often with sketches in my calc sheets,
as johnwm said, in autocad, under "File" click "export" chose your item(s) and save as wmf file
in your excel file insert as picture from file and crop and resize
resize from corners so the original aspect ratio is maintained
I hope this helps

Thanks chaps - WMF is a complete winner.

If you are interested to have the images just for presentations, click Alt+Print Scrn, open the image from clipboard with any image viewer and save it.
Good luck

Best regards,
Andrei

A quick way is to just select the element in AutoCAD and go to Edit>Copy and then go into Excel and Edit>Paste. If the background in the pasted image in excel is not white, go back into AutoCAD and type in the command wmfbkgnd and set it to off. Then repeat the above procedure. This works well for me.
