Hello everyone,

I have setup an explicit import analysis, that should import the results from an implicit analysis for all parts (using an initial state field). The model consists of a deformable body and a discrete rigid shell. While the import for the deformable body works fine, I simply cannot figure how to import the rigid body. Only its reference point is imported but not the elements.

Does anyone know how to import rigid bodies?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you create a set with these rigid elements and specify it in the *Import definition then it should work properly.

I tried it like this:
*Import, state=yes, update=yes
set1, set2
*Import elset
set1, set2

but unfortunately the sets are simply ignored, and only the deformable part imported :(

Is your model defined as assembly of part instances ? If yes then try this: in Edit Attributes toggle on "Do not use parts and assemblies in input files", write your input file and then specify *Import keyword with rigid body elset specified in data line. In the documentation chapter "Transferring results between Abaqus/Explicit and Abaqus/Standard" there are templates showing how to configure input files for various cases.

This worked, thank you very much!
