Import Parts And Coordinate System Help

Greetings:

I have a part that we designed a fixture for in the past. That part is now updated. The design was not mine originally, as when I design, I always leave the coordinate system alone with respect to the part we design fixtures for in the event of updates, so that, when you import an updated part, it falls right in place without any other actions needed. I now have inherited another's design that most likely knew more about coordinates than myself, so now when the part is imported, it does not fall right into place. Can anyone help me import this part where it belongs?

A picture of my issue is attached. Thank you in advance for your help.

I normally leave my parts in the position they are sent to me in. That way when the customer sends changes they drop right in.

Do you have the old part in fixture position as well?
if so you can use some of the features that didn't change to align the new part on it or align the old fixture/part to the new part. I prefer to use assemblies with face to face or aligning hole axis to do this.

Typically when assembly links (constraints) are broken the component part doesn't move unless it was moved somehow.
You may want to check if there is a broken WAVE link in the part someplace.

I may be as simple as setting the WCS back to absolute befor you import the part so it goes in the correct location.
Menu - Format - WCS - Set WCS to ablolute
Should be worth a try

Thanks, all good information. I did use some of the features that did not change to place it. Thanks again to you all for the replies.
