Hi, I am new to the ABAQUS community have a quick question which is most likely an easy fix but yea. I have a 3-d Truss Drawing in AutoCAD and saved it to a dxf to import into ABAQUS, however when I import it as a sketch only a 2-d image shows. And when I rotate it, nothing changes, just the 2-d image remains.

As far as I know, AutoCAD can only export 2D DXFs/ I think it flattens your image to the current viewing perspective.

I think older versions of AutoCAD could export a 3D dxf but I don't think the newer version can. Personally I've never really found too many programs that could import them anyway. Most either flattened them or just refused to open them at all.

If you have access to the original 3D AutoCAD file you should probable try IGES, SAT, or STEP.

HTH,
Dan
