Importing a RISA model into Rivet 1

I have to communicate member sizes in a floor plan to a designer. He says the sizes are not coming across when he imports my RISA model.

Is this expected? Is there anyway around this?

If not, is there another (efficient) way to communicate this?

I haven't worked with the revit-risa link much myself. However I believe in order to be able to go back and forth and have the link auto-update the model it requires that the specific file that was exported from revit to risa, is then only worked on in risa until exported back to revit. And vice versa. You can't have someone working on the revit model and the risa model simultaneously. Or at least that's how it's been explained to me.

So generally we use revit to export the original model file to Risa, and then we work in separate models and indicate changes the old fashioned way with markups.

I'll second what jayrod12 said. What exactly is your workflow/process?

If all else fails, you can always export your RISA to a .dxf (make sure to translate shapes to layers) and have your designer model things directly in RISA using the .dxf as a guide.

RISA and Revit integration is the one aspect of the program I was never very good at.

My belief is that RISA and Revit may use different names for some shapes. I believe there is a mapping file that will assist with this.

Look for a file called something like RISA_Revit_Mapping_File.XML.

There should be a reference manual for the RISA/Revit link that describes this file in better detail.
