I got a question.

I'm new to solid edge and I'm trying to import my older machines. Well they are drawn in cadkey 19. I'm exporting out a sat file. I bring the file in to solid edge comes in without any issues. The only issue I do have is that my reference planes are all the way out in left field. How do I move the reference planes to the part of move my part to the reference plane. I've got a bunch of parts to do and need help.

thanks
Richard

If using V17, use the Move Face command with the "body" option. Otherwise, you can't.

When there are only a few(!) .sat to import and V17 is not available
a somewhat laborious 'workaround is this:

- convert to .sat to .par and save it
- open a new assembly
- turn the view so that you look onto say the x/y plane
- insert the .par by holding the Shift key and place
the part at the intersection
- release the LMB
- save the asm as .sat or parasolid
- convert the newly created .sat/parasolid as .par and it will now
be located as wanted

OTH there is IMHO no need to have the parts in question located at
the ref. planes intersection. Sure it's annoying to zoom/move to
the part to work on it. But when it comes to assemble the parts you can
freely move them around or place them where you want them by defining
the neccessary relations to other parts
