Hi,

I write this mail because ,i need some help about a problem with importing data from an analysis of abaqus standard to another dynamic explicit analysis.

The analysis has two stage, the first is computed in abaqus standard, like results it was obtained displacement and stresses for a steel block. The boundary conditions are: fixed in the bottom side and loaded in upper part (This works like a preload.)

The second part is realized in abaqus dynamic/ explicit, in this case it's necesary import the preloaded state from abaqus standart, after a rigid body is crashed with steel block.

The problem is that the initial state (displacement and stresses) imported from abaqus standard just is holding in the initial step (Default) and when starting the dynamic explicit step the preload state dissapears before the rigid body reaches the block.

The problem is how to hold the preload state until that occurs the shock?

I would have thought you need to maintain the boundary conditions and loading from the end of the initial step such that the block will be in equilibrium at the beginning of the dynamic step. (I assume the blocks are in equilibrium at the end of the standard analysis if it has solved successfully) Otherwise, as you have seen, it will immediately try to revert to a new state of equilibrium during the dynamic step.

If this is not possible, can you control when the new dynamic loads are applied, eg bring the impact forward, or add in the "pre-stressed" elements later in the analysis?
