Dears,
How a FE Model created in a different pre processr having nodes/elements can be imported into ANSYS Workbench.
ANSYS APDL gives the option to import a .dat file having nodes/elements alng with boundry conditins created in a different program, to solve the model in ANSYS.

Thanks for yur help and guidance.

You can use External Model or Finite Element Modeller component and link it to your analysis, as shown in attached figure.

Thanks Petr, for your reply and help.

The FE Model, I imported created in an external pre-processor, is in ANSYS FE Modeler.
I am not able to link this model from ANSYS FE Modeler to other cells to apply load, solve the model and view the results.
Can any one walk through all the steps to link the imported external fe model brought as a NASTRAN .dat file to analyze it and post process the results in ANSYSY Workbench.

Regards & Thanks!

Once you have created the FE modeler, drag a Mechanical model to the project.

Finally (with reference to the post above) drag and drop the model, by first pressing and holding the left mouse button (LMB) on row number 2 (Model) of the FE modeler, and then finally by dragging it over onto row nr. 3 of the Mecahnical model (or of row nr. 4 of a Static Analysis). Hold the LMB pressed during the whole drag and drop operation (do not release the LMB). Perhaps this is a bad explanation, but fortunately videos say more than words (link shows the drag and drop operation: Link)

You would need to update rows 2 and 3 or 4 respectively and perhaps adjust things in your engineering data or elsewhere (depends if the Nastran file has material properties defined, and so on).

When you dragging and dropping it should look like this (left image), and once you are done, and updated the fields, then it should look like the right image.
