Hi,
Does anyone else have problems with importing step-geometry in new femap version 11.2?
I have tried to import this closed pipe (solid geometry) to new femap but result is two shells (inner and outer surface).
I also tried to import this same file to previous version 11.1.2 and it's working well forming one solid as it should.
If I import this same pipe in parasolit .x_t it also work as it should. I know I could use parasolid or some other form, but I have used to work with step-geometry and I would like to do so also in the future.

I think something has happened to .stp import in this femap 11.2 update :/

I could read your file without a problem. (that is, if it is supposed to be a pipe with two flanged ends :p)

Yes, latest version, and i could read your file without a problem. We did get a message from our retailer with mention of a problem, but apparently that doesn't appl yto this file.
Lik e I said: i see a pipe with two flanges. I don't know if that's all i need to see.

There is no problem with reading this file. I see also pipe with two flanges, but the problem is that in model tree, under geometry I get two shells (instead of one solid). Please see the difference between two pictures I posted in my previous message.

I see what you mean now. If i load the model, i get two solids. The inner body and the tube with the two flanges.
Below is some comments i got from our reseller, about an existing problem in V11.2.
Maybe yours is related and i would suggest contacting your reseller of UGS

Dear ,

We have discovered a problem in FEMAP version 11.2 that users should be aware of. When opening models or when importing FEMAP Neutral files from previous versions of FEMAP, CBUSH elements whose property table references a coordinate system will not be migrated correctly. The problem occurs when any Neutral File is imported, including the automatic conversion that happens when opening model files from previous versions of FEMAP.

FEMAP v11.2 added optional element based coordinate system references for CBUSH elements. When a Neutral File is read, the elements get flagged with this new option, but the coordinate system reference is still in the property table and does not get moved to the element definition. CBUSH elements with an orientation specified using an orientation node or vector are not affected.

The API that you can download via this link will correct the neutral file conversion error and restore your model to its correct state.

Dear vonFEA,
I see the error here as well, I will report the problem to the FEMAP guys to improve the translator, thanks!.
Best regards,
Blas.

Dear vonFea,
According FEMAP developers:

"FEMAP v11.2 uses a new “Siemens-provided” STEP interface that appears to have some issues with certain parts. We will forward this to them and get it fixed, however in the interim there is a fairly easy workaround. If the user adds the following…

[User]
OldSTEPInterface=1

To their FEMAP.INI file then FEMAP v11.2 will still use the older STEP interface just like in previous versions. That should allow them to continue to work as before
".

In fact, running OK now, here you are:

Thank you Blas Molero Hidalgo Ingeniero Industrial Director Your work around by changing the Femap.ini in Femap v11.2 was a lifesaver for me. I am back up and running. Thanks again. Jerry

Dear Jerry,
For you to know the current release of FEMAP V11.2.1 imports STEP files with success, this bug was solved in the current release, not longer need to edit the FEMAP.INI file, OK?.
Best regards,
Blas.
