Hi all

I work in the offshore industry and have been sent some data that I want to import into autoCAD LT . I admit to being pretty new to autocad so need a laymans introduction into importing from a text format straight into autocad without having to manually insert them by hand. I know how to do that bit but it would take about 3 weeks to insert all the data I have been KINDLY sent! Anyone out there willing to help and give a novice a hand?
The format is in Eastings and Northings and Depths, basically contour lines wanted as the end result.
Cheers
Mark

I don't believe you can do that in LT.
I have Land Desktop and can import the northing, eastings AND ELEVATIONS in about 2 seconds build a dtm and generate contour in about 5 minutes. I would be more then happy to do this for you. I am pretty slow today THANK GOD!
If you send me the file I will send you the dwg with the points and contours in it back to you in about 10 minutes.
That's got to be good for the budget and you can leave early:)

Does AutoCAD LT support scripts?
If so then you can import YOUR LIST of coordinates into a SCRIPT file and run that through AutoCAD.

See this thread below.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Both for your prompt replies. I managed to find a script (yes it does work in LT) that let me insert my 47,000 points and plot some contours. Now all I need to do is work out how to get it into powerpoint for a presentation!
Thanks again

Mark

Hi Mark,

Power Point is a different question. It's better to meke a new thread....
But anyway, the easiest way is to take copy&paste (white screen)
