Importing Solid Model

I use Creo 2. I have third party software that generates a solid
model suitable for exporting. There are many parts to the model.
However, when I import the model to Creo, it's just one piece.
Is there a way to separate the components? I don't need all components
separated, just a few like when materials change.

Thanks,

You could export the parts individually and assemble them in Creo.

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows.

The 3rd party software doesn't allow me to make individual
components. I have seen webinars where the model was imported
into the FEA software by individual components. That would solve
the problem but I don't have access to that software. Maybe if
the 3rd party software I use gets together with PTC, they can
add it to the program?

When you "open" the geometry into Creo, are you selecting Assembly or Part format?

geesamand,
I started over and paid attention to each step.
Well, sure enough all the parts are all there.
All I can say is that I haven't been working with
Creo much (I used ProE years ago)and missed how
to evaluate the model information.

Hello
One option is as follows:
1. goto Import Data Doctor (click on import geometry,....) and goto repaire options
2. there should be more components in list
3. remove/delete components you don´t need
4. close IDD

Bye

bobslo,

I'll have to look into it more but I think importing the model
as an assembly will provide the components so there is no need for
the Data Doctor. I must have imported the models before as a part.
However, I looked into the DD but couldn't identify the commands.
I looked in the help files for a procedure. There was information
listed but I still couldn't follow the path to the DD?
