Importing Step Files 1

Is there any way of setting a step file to appear as shaded with edges and in an isometric view when opening it after downloading it off the net?

You could go in and edit the 'STEP' file template parts as found in the folder named either 'STEP203UG' or 'STEP214UG' (whichever standard you're using). In these folders you will find 2 NX Part files, one for Metric and one for Imperial unit parts. Simply open these files in NX, set the shading, view and orientation options you wish and resave them (note that they will probably have been set to 'read only' so you will need to account for that when resaving them).
