Hi,

When I import .sat 3D surface model prepared in AutoCAD, I get a problem of ill-formed edges.Repair with stitch doesn't work.
The ill-formed edges are seen only on some part of the model, whereas other edges turn out okay.

I tried whole lot of permutations in Autocad, in hope that I may be able to get a correct model in Abaqus.
I tried, exploding the whole 2D diagram in Autocad into lines, before extruding.
I also tried making all lines "simple".
By Simple I mean .------.------- rather than .--------------. where . denotes end of line segements

Have you tried export & importing with *.iges instead?

Hi DrBwts,
I will give it a try.
I did try a roundabout way.Instead of importing the whole model, I imported it piece by piece.
I kept each piece simple enough, so that it got imported properly with all expected edges as they should be.
Then I assembled all the pieces in assembly module of Abaqus.
I had to break the model into 4 pieces, which was manageable.
Thanks again for your suggestion.I will definitely try it, and inform whether it works or not.

Hi DrBwTs,
Since Iam working with Acad 2007. I do not have the option of converting to IGES.
I would like to add that using convtosurface command in autocad, before exporting the .sat file works wondes.
