I am running 2004sp3. Why is my 'shaded view with edges' button grayed-out in assemblies? It is only grayed-out in asseblies, not in parts.

I have SW04 sp3.0. I have always seen it work this way. Your not alone. [bugeyed]

Did do what in SW03? ctopher pointed out SP3.0 in SW04.

I would repair your installation of SW and start looking into a possible video card or driver issue.

Does your Video card pass? I have been using the Shaded with edges since SW03 and still use it in SW04. I can't think of a single reason why it would be greyed out unless your Graphics card or a driver is corrupted.

Just some ideas.

Click on it and try again in an assy. If does not work, try a repair like Scott wrote....repairs usually alot of things for me.[pc3]

Same thing happened to me. It is Large Assembly Mode related.
Go to Tools, Options, System Options, Large Assembly Mode and then "reselect" the "Display edges in shaded mode" button.
SP 3 seems to have turned this off. It was the first thing I noticed after the patch.

Thanks guys. It was the setting Mandrake22 mentioned. I jumped straight from 2003sp5.1 to 2004sp3.0 so I just assumed it was a version issue, not a service pack issue. I've never noticed a service pack screwing with my options before. I hope SolidWorks Corp has important reasons for making subtle changes like this, that they don't just do it on a whim. I'm still reeling from 2004's massive interface-lift.

Maybe due to lightweight parts? Maybe not enough data resolved to show the edges? Haven't even had the problem, just poking in the dark for possibilities to look at.
