Hi I'm currently looking to design a form of heat / uv deflector for an electrical device which is to be mounted on a in car dash. The device is potentially going to be used in hot climate regions and therefore I was interested if anyone could share experience with some potential polymers that might be most suited to the application? Likelihood is we'd be looking to injection mold the required parts to high volumes.
I'm can't say I'm familiar with whether or not there are any particular automotive standards the device would need to meet. However the general idea is the unit could have some form of secondary cover that could have a snap fit so that if the vehicle were to be used in a hot climate country then this additional cover could be included.
A good example would be a typical in car navigation unit. I guess the manufacturers would typically get around this though knowing that the units aren't generally put in position permanently whereas the device in my case is to be a permanent addition.
