All,
Situation; We have partnered with another company in which they performed a product design for us. The final TDP is not ready and probably won't be for some time. All of the detail drawings are on their format using their cage code and part number system.
What I need to do: I need to put copies of the most current revisions of several of their drawings into our document control. I need to mark these drawings and current revisions as approved by my company. The goal is to restrict our purchasing and receiving departments to the current revision that has been prototyped and delivered to the customer for evaluation. Any future purchasing activity would probably be through the original (current) design activity but may be through other vendors.
My questions is what is the best and correct way to document these drawings? I am not going to redraw them, just stamp them as approved. Should they be marked as "Vendor Item Controlled Drawings", "Procurement Controlled Drawings", leave them as "Detail Drawings" or just stamp them as "Duplicate Originals"? Eventually when the TDP is complete, the design activity will be transferred and these documents will be replaced.
Any comments are welcome.
Thanks, Jamess
