Trying to CNC an electric skateboard motor like the one used here. - 滑板
Can't decide if I should use planetary gearing or not. Any suggestions?

inktech2,

I did something like that using Harmonic drive. It was very cool, but it ran slowly, as intended. In your application, a gear drive allows you to use a smaller motor, at the cost of simplicity, and the size of the reducer. In your application, an appropriately sized motor would be simpler, more reliable and cheaper. Maybe the wheel would get a little bigger.

Is it worth designing your own in-wheel motor?
