At my present job I have been dropped into a R&D position developing a small a/c generator. Electrical however isn't my background. My boss has been on vacation and been of little help, he is an EE. I was wondering if there are any good resources or books for the designing of generators. A 2Kw, self excited, belt driven generator. I need to figure out the rotor especially. Like I said this hasn't been my backgroiund.

If you are looking for a practical design of small generator may be found in old editions of Popular Mechanic magazine or similar publications.

The engineering books that I know, usually explain principle, theory and calculations that may take longer than the vacation time of your boss.
