Inclinometer casing installation

Guys

Are there any tolerances for the inclinometer casing installation with respect to verticality? I mean is there any limit on the straightness of the casing that we reject using the inclinometer. Is there any calibration using the inclinometer probe?

You can write your specification any way you want.

The further the hole is from vertical the less the acuracy of the inclinometer. However, the difference is generally not important.

What is important is to not twist the casing during installation.

Recommend using a reputable drilling contractor, having a geotech on site to review installation and use a drilling method that enables them to case the hole (e.g. HQ/PQ coring or hollow stem or ODEX). if you use these methods, you should be fine for verticality, have never had any probs with this before. make sure they do the baseline reading as quickly as possible after the install too by the way

Casing deflection is measured relative to the baseline or post installation reading, so even if you're not quite vertical, you'll still pick up the movement.
