Inconel Machining Specs

My shop is about to take on a quite a bit of work machining 718 inconel. Any suggestions on milling and turning feeds and speeds whould be appreciated.

Based on your statement above, I would suggest you purchase a copy of ASM Handbook, Volume 16 on Machining. There is excellent general machining information for Ni-base alloys in this handbook.

Also cutting tool manufacturers like Seco Carboloy, Valenite, etc. have new generation tools and coatings that can improve the machining performance of high-strength nickel-based alloys. You may find some of the archived articles at the following site helpful:

 
Carpenter Technology Corp., Reading, Pennsylvania has, or had, a wonderful little book on machining various stainless and nickel alloys. Don't know if it is still in print.
