I have added English threads to my standards, and am now having an issue with how the thread designation is displayed on the face of the drawing. At my current location, I am unable to access the help documents online, so I cannot search out the correct parameter. Can anyone help me out by providing the help doc link to the parameter that controls the variables which are displayed on the thread dimension? (It displays the wrong column in the thread table) With the link, I will be able to locate the document in my install folder, even though I cannot use the documents online. (has to do with the java applet and several other issues - long story not to be told)

Thank you.

Hi Solid7,

not sure that's what you need... a similar problem was discussed in an older thread. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make a link to it :-( ... maybe you can help me with that...

Thread name:
Drafting: Custom Threads

Date Posted:
July 11, 2007.

See if that helps...

Best regards,
Stely

Solid7 - are you looking for this
C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B17\win_b64\reffiles\standard

I am running R17 on 64bit but the reffiles\standard are the same.

Derek

Well, no, that's not exactly what I need. I know where to find the xml files - I don't know where to find the help doc (cause I have no access to the search) that lists the parameters to input into the xml file.

The default (metric) thread dimensions are listed such that the text displayed is as follows:

M comes from the 4th row of the 1st column of the table
8 comes from the first column of the table (appropriate row)

Now, when using a custom English thread table, this method doesn't work so well. I just want to list the thred from a description column that will address the thread size and pitch.

Hope that is clearer.

Thank you.

Solid7,

I understand exactly what you need, I already use my own created files for imperial threads.

The name of the file where the thread command (Part Design Workbench) is detailed:

.../English/online/prtug_C2/prtugbt0616.htm

There is a reference to the Generative Drafting Documentation there, you can find about thread dimensioning at the following "address":

.../English/online/draug_C2/draugbt1003.htm

Finally, another reference to thread dimensioning in the Interactive Drafting Documentation:

.../English/online/cfyugdr_C2/cfyugdr0623.htm

The file names are as usually very descriptive... :)

Now I can tell you I didn't quite get the right info from the documentation, that's why I pointed you to the above thread.

I could share the files I use (UNRC, UNRF and NPT threads) who seem to give the right output in the drawing too. I don't know how to post them though... :-(

Best regards,
Stely

By the way - I wasn't able to do anything with the information from the other thread, as it applies to metric threads. (and I'm working with English)

Maybe there was something that I missed in the topic? Please help me to understand what it is that I am doing wrong.

Thank you.

Solid7,

the key piece of info from the other thread was related to the table "header", the column name was supposed to be "NO_DESC_IN_DRAFTING" alone, as opposed to "M...". That column is to be filled with the thread description and the "M" column needs to be taken off.

I already did that in my files.

Now the dumb question: how do I send you the files?...

Best regards,
Stely

Send it to me through the contact form on any one of the websites in my signature links.

I tried removing the relevant column header in the file that I am working with, but it actually now displays the "NO_DESC_IN_DRAFTING" label.

I hope that seeing your files will clear up the issue. It's probably just some dumb thing that I'm doing, and can't quite see. (because it's too obvious)

Thanks again.
