Greetings, I am searching for ideas to increase the RPMs of a vertical axis wind turbine that I am working on. I am able to fabricate the design show. If anyone can suggest modifications please let me know. Top recorded RPM is 200 RPMs at 50 MPH. Comments welcome.

Are you limited to Savonius configuration? Not sure if giromill configurations or similar have higher rpm but it's worth looking at.

Your design doesn't look especially aerodynamically or structurally efficient - you may be able to reduce drag, increase air capture and reduce moment of inertia/mass. However, it may be a more complex design.

You currently have 6 impulses per revolution rather than smooth continuous input. If you could 'twist' your scoops around the axis in a helical form that would smooth your input and might improve rpm.

Sounds like a fun research/homweork project!
